Small Business Owner Tips - Should You Be On Social Media?
This article from Imogen Reed, writing on behalf of money.co.uk, which is a site that compares household expense items like insurance, utilities etc, list consumers deals and provide personal finance tips and advice. I was initially not going to let Imogen post an article on my blog but once I saw the website he was writing for I changed my mind as it is website that is very helpful and similar to a business idea I had prior to starting Profitworks. The website is very well designed and is very easy to use. I am actually a little jealous of the site. It also have very good social media integration. For a small business it has also been decently successful on social media gaining 632 Facebook Likes, 1,852 Twitter followers and 43 +1 recommendations on Google+ at this time of writing. What better a person to review if being on social media is beneficial for small businesses then someone who is associated with a small business that has implemented social media.

Google Plus One - It is being added to Google Adwords
It appears the new Google plus one button is going to also be added to Google Adwords. If you don't know what Google's plus one button looks like, look at the bottom of this page. I added it to my site shortly after it was made available. The idea behind the button is unclear but there are many theories about how Google will use the information to improve its search results. One thing is clear though. They will use the Google +1 button to change how pages rank in Google search (Therefore if you would be willing to +1 this page that would be great). As of today it looks like they will also use this data to change how adwords chooses what ads to display where. See the email below that I just received from Google earlier this week. If you get customers from your website, you may want to read this article as things on the web may be drastically changing in the near future.

How To Get To The Purchase Decision Maker When Making A Sale
Recently it has occurred to me that the fact that I am not always getting to the purchase decision maker is having a negative impact on my closing rate when trying to make sales for my clients. I am thinking in particular of my client Kingston Data and Credit. Just the other day I was phoning law offices on their behalf and I talked to probably about 5 receptionists that told me they were not interested or had no use for Kingston Data and Credit's services. Kingston Data and Credit provides 3rd party collection services. Now I know that most of these law offices probably could benefit from their services and probably half of them even have someone else providing collection services for them. I feel if I could talk to the decision maker I could probably persuade them to at least meet with me. After thinking about it I started to think of all the times I or my clients have trouble getting to the true decision maker in the buying process. This made me realize I should really do some research and do some studying to find out what tactics can be used to get to the real purchase decision maker. Below are the result from my research.
