Top 3 Things Learned In The Year
1. Testimonials Are Key To Generating Conversions
The number one thing we we learned in the past 6 months from the work we have done for this client is that testimonials are key to increasing conversions. Of all the pages on their website, the page that lists a bunch of client testimonials does the best job of converting people to get the companies contact information. It is so effective that it is almost double the rate of the next closest page. I know for our own website we have a few testimonials on some pages but we will be working to add an entire page dedicated to testimonials to take advantage of what we have learned here.
2. Creating A Bunch Of Content On One Topic Will Help A Website To Rank For Many Longtail Keywords On That Topic
For this particular client we create a lot of content around basement renovations. Almost each of the additional pages we created for them was a page that had something to do about basement renovations. As a result of this action the clients website has started to rank in search results for numerous additional search phrases that includes the word "renovation" or "renovations in it. In addition they are also ranking higher for some of the renovation search phrases they were already ranking for. The increase they have seen in the number of renovation search phrases they are generating traffic from is +67%. The traffic increase from renovation search phrases is +335%.
3. Call To Action Buttons & Call To Action Text Links Are Key On All Pages
A call to action is a statement calling the website view to do something. An example of a call to action button is "contact us today." What we saw in the last six months for this client and for many of our other clients that having many call to action buttons and call to action text links on a page is important to increasing conversion rate. In general when we added a call to action button above the fold (on the portion of the page that fits on the screen), a call to action below the fold (below the portion that fits on the average computer screen) and call to action text links within the body of the page we saw a 17% to 60% increase in conversions.
